2nd Annual Songs and Stories of New England – Music Camp
In old New England, songs and stories told the news, provided entertainment and brought communities together. Music was an integral part of daily life. Many people sang or played instruments for entertainment and dancing at the end of the work day. During the week, we’ll teach folk songs and tunes, some collected from this region. We’ll also explore the folk process, how songs change as they travel from regions and generations, and some of the history around them. There will be many opportunities to play and sing together, culminating in an informal performance for family and friends. All levels welcome, no previous musical experience required. Bring instruments if you have them.
August 6-10, 10 AM to 12 Noon. $50 per attendee for the entire workshop.
For young people age 8 and up. Come join in the fun!
Our camp leaders will be the wonderful and talented multi-instrumentalists Beverly Woods and Seth Austen.
